I saw it not as a question of deciding who has or has not a closed mind,but rather a premise: "don't want to think? Then please feel free not to talk". Closed minds should have nothing to say anyway (after all, closed). But I agree with you, if by speaking they might open their minds, speak away all you want. nice point though.
